What is going on in America? I initially thought this was the result of some fringe group exaggerating police conduct. But this is an underreported issue with dark portents. It has been reported on by both left and right major media sources. An example is Jose Guerena, an innocent Marine murdered by police in Arizona, and the botched swat raid in Georgia which resulted in the murder of a baby. This issue seems ubiquitous and headed in a bad direction. Are the Police out of control in this country?

There have been a string of articles, some written before the Ferguson, MO debacle, questioning the way our police forces are getting to resemble a military occupying force (and a brutal one, at that). Some of this criticism goes at least back to the '60s when many urbanites complained that the police acted like occupiers, not protectors.
