I agree with what the President said. Campaigns are nothing but everyone screams, makes ridiculous promises, then fail to follow up. I especially agree with this portion of his speech - "In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible," he said. "They don't seem to offer many solutions to the disasters they perceive, but they're quick to tell you who to blame. There's nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world."

I find it amusing that a person who has successfully run two campaigns and has no more campaigns to run is commenting on the negativity of campaigning.

Honestly I think the fact that he made the comments only fans the flames. He's needs to stay out of the race and especially, why should he be involved in the primary of the other party?

In all seriousness, the debate was actually really tame and the president wasn't really attached. Check other years and races including the one he ran if you don't believe me on that.

I'm not voicing anything in support of or against any of the candidates or the president, but there was no reason for him to chime in on this. He's being divisive for no reason.

SFC Joseph Weber I get that to a certain extent, but his own comments regarding the GOP candidates "bashing" America are undermined by the fact that he is getting involved. To a certain extent he's proving their point.

SFC Joseph Weber - First, I don't see how anybody could begin to comment on this and set "politics aside".

Obama certainly knows, better than most, about the validity of political promises during campaigns and even while in office. His entire rhetoric has been deceitful, self-serving, and designed to push his immoral, racist, divisive, socialist and anti-Christian agenda. For him to call anybody un-American and unpatriotic is laughable. He is the poster child for that, based on his actions when first elected, when he went on his famous Apology Tour for the "misdeeds of Americans" and for just about everything he has done while in office to tear our country and its traditions down.

His lecturing us on this is about as appropriate and believable as having Hillary Clinton lecture us on security of classified material or ethical behavior.

SFC Joseph Weber - I understand, but, my point is that the message itself is about politics and, as such, politics cannot be set aside when answering the question you posed.

I don't want to debate you on your comments (or mine) about what Obama has or has not done, as that has been done over and over on other post/threads in RallyPoint. Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion.

I don't doubt that both Bush and Obama love their country, I just sometimes question what country that really is.

COL Jean (John) F. B. You are right about that Sir. That is one topic that has been beaten to death. I see your point, is a political question. maybe I should have said party affiliation aside, what do you think of the President's message.

SFC Joseph Weber -
***"Despite the perennial doom and gloom that I guess is inevitably part of a presidential campaign, America is winning right now. America is great right now. We can do even better."

I totally agree that America is a great country, but I disagree that we are “winning right now”. I do agree we can do better, but that won’t happen until we get leaders who put America and Americans ahead of the liberal socialist agenda that is destroying our country.

***“He cited job creation, the rising stock market and millions of Americans who now have health insurance as examples of a successful presidential run.”

Job creation stats provided by his Administration are no more than liberal spin. Underemployment, people dropping out of the job market (employment participation rates), manipulation of data, all impact the stats and make them appear better than they really are.

While the stock market is rising (and dropping), and Obama can take some credit for it, the facts are that it is cyclical and reflects policies of the Fed and the international markets.

Yes, millions now have health insurance who previously did not, but at what cost? People who had health insurance before now pay more for less benefits and everybody (who pays) pays more to give those who don’t pay (but could) the coverage. Socialist and wealth distribution. ObamaCare was forced on America and is a disaster.

***"You wouldn't know any of this if you were listening to the folks seeking this office that I occupy," the President told the group of American chief executives.”

Well, that is certainly not true, as the mainstream media pumps that BS at us 24 hours a day. What is true is that the debates allow the Republican candidates to dispute the Obama Administration claims and be covered by the liberal lapdog media.

***"In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible," he said. "They don't seem to offer many solutions to the disasters they perceive, but they're quick to tell you who to blame. There's nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world."

He should practice what he preaches. He is the poster child for lame political promises and in running down our country/being unpatriotic.

***“Obama said it was imperative that Republicans in Congress pass a government spending measure before the end-of-month deadline to avoid a shutdown, calling the standoff over funding for Planned Parenthood "bad policymaking."

If there is a government shutdown, it will be because he is unwilling to work with Congress to come to an equitable resolution tom the issues, relying, instead on threats of veto and hyperbole in the press. Funding Planned Parenthood is nothing more than funding a criminal enterprise that murders babies and sells their body parts or profit, which is a felony. If we had a Department of Justice/Attorney General and President who actually followed the Constitution and enforced the laws of our country, there would be no discussion about defunding Planned Parenthood, as they would be out of business and their leaders would be facing federal felony charges.

I'm sure a lot of ex-Presidents have to tell themselves a lot of things to sleep at night. i imagine President Obama's ghosts are just bad as what President Bush and Johnson and Truman, maybe even Wilson, had to deal with. A lot of trouble sleeping after they left office. I would never want that type of responsibility.

"but they're quick to tell you who to blame..."

Sounds like Obama himself when he is blaming "his predecessor" for everything that goes wrong.
