Allen West should have been our President instead.

I saw this speech yesterday and it got me pumped up. It's such a shame the democrats rezoned his district just to push him out of office.

The Republicans rezoned his district. The GOP had the governorship and full control of the legislature.

Allen West to seek reelection in new district
Tea Party Republican Allen West of Florida will run for his second term in a friendlier district

SGT (Join to see) - Just speculation on my part, but from reading through a couple of articles about the redistricting, it looks like they were actually trying to help him. His old district wasn't all that competitive, but he won in a mid-term election (2010) when turnout was low (30% fewer voters than during 2008), but then lost a close race in 2012. Look at the voting patterns:

He lost handily in 2008 (a Presidential election year), he won handily in 2010 (a mid-term year), but he lost in a squeaker in 2012 (another Presidential election year, but after redistricting). He actually received a lot more votes in his 2012 loss, so the redistricting appears to have helped (but just wasn't quite enough).

What really grabs my attention is his knowledge of Islam. He has studied a lot about it since its inception. I still have to catch up on that. He is also a straight shooter, and stood up for his soldiers when needed.

Not to be too condescending, but Islam has been around a lot longer than Allen West...

Are you trying to make any point whatsoever? What does knowledge has to do with longevity, really?

Allen Weat is the conservative equivalent to Al Sharpton, I've read his blog and it's full of meandering rants of a person out of touch with society.

So your counterpoint is fact less emotions? You are ok with Iran and all those Death to America radical Islamists? Anything to refute at all? Al Sharpton has been proven a liar and very divisive, ok as long as he grabs money off people who lie constantly to create division, Tawana Brawley, the Duke Lacrosse teamm etc. What has LTC West say that is not truth?

I'm also not an Allen West fan. I have always seen him as more of a conservative entertainer who just tells the ultraconservatives what they want to hear, rather than a true public servant who actually wants to help govern and solve society's problems. And, having a desire to solve society's problems from a conservative perspective is fine (although that's not my perspective on a number of issues). However, I always saw him as more of a politician who was there to pander, rather than to solve problems.
