"Our goal is to try to place three service dogs with three veterans in Franklin County," said Justin Slep, director of the county Department of Veterans Affairs. "We will try to make sure to place dogs with the veterans with the most needs."

Dogs can ease the severity of post traumatic stress disorder. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs last year compensated nearly 740,000 U.S. military veterans for PTSD.
