Anyone else excited about Obama's comment that he is going to continue military spending to support service members and the funding for equipment that we need to perform our jobs? Maybe my unit will no longer have to live in fear of being bracked... <br>

I encourage all to watch. Our Junior Soldiers, NCOs, and Officers will lead our Army when we have long since removed our uniforms. It's critical that they understand the strategic direction of the United States and how Strategy will translate into operations at their level. It has nothing to do with political ideology.

Last night was an interesting SOTUA, I heard a few good things, and a few bad. Overall I will hold judgement until I see some action, or lack there of.

Wise position to take following any interaction with a politician. Talk is cheap, but action speaks volumes about a person's true commitment and their heart.

I reserve my excitement for results. Politics really confuse me so I am not an expert in any way.

I am in the same boat as you SSgt Olson, I try to make sense of it all but it just doesn't happen, lol.

Don't waste your time. Biggest thing that's come out of the whole thing is that Obama is using his Executive right to bump up minimum wage $3.00
Problem is, it isn't affecting as many people as it should.

Unfortunately it is just political double-talk. Yes, he will continue military spending, but at a significantly reduced rate. This means less people, which translates to less units. Let his actions do the talking. We've recently seen the attacks on the military retirement system and base commissaries--this is not going to stop. Sadly, the president's actions show that he is not really concerned with the well being of service members and their families, but rather with how much money the military is costing.
BTW, do I know you from somewhere?

I encourage all Soldiers to watch this. They must see what the POTUS is planning that may affect them through economic decisions and foreign policy. Political ideology means nothing in this. It is a simple baseline knowledge to see where their country may be heading provided that the POTUS' vision is enacted.

It concerned me that many of the people, including a good population of NCO's that I spoke to today thought it was pointless to watch the SOTUA, I understand we control nothing, but at least you won't be taken by surprise.
