Presumably, each of us has known one or more "Mr. Hollands" in our lives. What's been your best memory of a school teacher?

It's cliché to say, but I'm very confident that I would not be where I am today had it not been for a number of public school teachers and some college professors who went that extra mile with me. Some instilled a desire for learning which is being nurished even today. Others facilitated a love for reading books, a passion, I dare say, in short supply these days. What special memories do you have of a school teacher in your life?

I really like my current music director Dr. Douglass. He is the absolute best teacher I have ever had. He embraces my knowledge and helps me to become the best musician possible.

The instructor I had for technical electronics while in a voc ed program in my last two yrs of high school. He was ex USMC, and constantly told us to pick things up off his "deck", lol. After I'd finished my Bach and USAF OTS, I was able to see him and speak with his group of high school students that day for about an hour or so, that was pretty much at the top of my food chain, in retrospect. Thing is, I guess I also drove him crazy at times, he had an early mini computer wit pH a magnetic drum memory. He didn't want anyone for whatever reason reading the manual, so, undeterred, I called the company, and, though my dad when he got a bill for about $60-$80 nearly neat me over the head with the book, lol, I got him to actually look skyward, throw up his hands, walk over to the machine, turn it on, and actually say, effectively, " Go, knock yourself out."
That was a really, really good day, lol....
P.S. My dad eventually understood my reasons, though it took him awhile, obviously, lol....

Kinda figured you'd all get a kick out of that one...I really admired that instructor...also, my dad did eventually forgive me, lol, though he said if did that again without telling him first, he'd disown me, basically, lol....

Too many to mention, but the connecting virtue is that they had pride in their knowledge and saw value in sharing it. I share the burden to give back for all the time and patience my teachers had to get me where I am.
