I am Interested to hear so thoughts and/or experiences with this. It has never occurred to me to lurk networking sites in search of a date, but apparently I may be in the minority on this one. A dear friend recently resorted to broadcasting a post on LinkedIn that read, "[D]ear LinkedIn Creepers, this is a business networking site... not a 'hey, she has a sweet job so I am going to try and hook up with her' website. Be professional or go back to Tinder!"
I asked her privately what prompted the post and it was unbelievable the amount of private messages, connection requests, and borderline stalking she has encountered! Yes she has a "sweet job" as a Rocket Scientist... I mean Rocket Propulsion Engineer, and yes her photo, although professional looking, does reveal the fact that she is also attractive... still no excuse in my book though!
Thoughts?

There are profiles on THIS site that creep me out as well. Hundreds of contacts....99% very attractive female service members. Looks like someone is putting together an internet harem. Disturbing.

My opinion is that it isnt professional. This activity corrupts these social networks. Its a bad idea alltogether.

That definitely will not earn the person any "cool" points....or potential dates.....

I agree with keeping the professional websites "professional" and conduct your social issues to the "social" websites. Linked-In and this site should be used for business and professional forums. I am sorry that your friend had to endure this situation. Maybe there is something that the professional site can do about this?

That is one of the reasons I don't do LinkedIn. I feel it is loosing it's professionalism and becoming a social site. I hope RP does not go down that path. Besides, I think SFC Mark Merino is already taken

Creepers should be banned from professional sites. I'm not looking for a soul mate on LinkedIn.

Unfortunately it will never go away with todays day and age. We are in a society where everyone is plugged in. I don't know if there are settings on LinkedIn or not. It shouldn't happen but it does. There will always be creepers on forum based sites.
That doesn't make it right however.

Very true. I really enjoyed Twitter up until about a year ago when the creepers (and horrible trolls) started ruining everything that resembled an interesting topic/debate.
