Programmers, have you ever done team coding projects with platforms such as github and Codio?

I use github periodically. I often find programs that assist in other projects I'm working on, but have been abandoned or at least neglected, so I like being able to fork it and just update it for my own purposes without messing with the original designers purpose. Then, if anyone likes the updates I've made, they can just use my clone instead. I haven't used Codio so can't compare to it, but I think github is a great tool.
