I just received notification from the VA that my sleep apnea was rated, after having to re-submit my medical records, and my overall rating is now at 60% for compensation. My question is, have any of my brothers or sisters on here been rated at 50% or higher for compensation and if so, do you get an additional check from VA on top of your retirement check if you retired at 20-years or more? I know there used to be the No concurrent payment thing, but if not mistaken that was changed about 10-years or so ago.

I reapplied to VA back in March. Almost 6 months into my claim, it still says Under Review... With no completion date!!!!! I am stuck going through the Chicago Regional Office. Sent a letter to the VFW Service Officer up there 2 days ago. Hopefully get some idea soon.

Hi Carolyn, thanks for the comment. I put a inquiry in to Barry Walter's office about an possible update. As you probable know, he is the VFW State Service Officer. If I don't hear from his office by tomorrow. I will contact the VFW Dept Junior Vice, Dave Stout who I know very well.

Also, I hand carried a letter to Rep Shimkus yesterday in Highland, IL and gave it to his aide from his Maryville office in reference Agent Orange presumptive dates.... I would love to get a letter to Senator Kirk also.... Plus, I have heard from a gentleman from the Senate Committee on VA also about this issue. After talking to him, I had several vets file complaints through their page, so they can attain a record of this issue. Thanks.....

CPT Carolyn "Carrie" Hoza I do apologize for butting in. I'm in Florida and I see and hear veterans screaming "go to your congressman/senator" for every little thing - and then they wonder why their claim is stuck in limbo.

I am also pleased to see staff from a politico's office monitoring RP and becoming part of the improvement process.

SGT Thomas Lucken just sent you my personal email address. Let me know if you need anything! PO1 (Join to see) thank you for the unnecessary apology! :) And I am on here at a Veteran as well... I think this site is very interesting and I do agree w/ you on the over use of a non-urgent Congressional complaints... in this case the IL VA system is deserving of minor complaints as well - note any Phoenix or Hines (Chicago) VA issues & improper management, which has led to more intense scrutiny on the VA claims side of things.

My best to you both and again - SGT L - let me know if I can be of further assistance to you!

Yes, you will receive both as others have mentioned. DFAS will have to do an audit of your retired pay account before your retired pay starts back. DFAS finished mine in about a month and a half. However, I did call DFAS every two weeks so it would not fall through the cracks.
