So, the DD 149 is the Application for Correction of Military Record Under the Provisions of Title 10, U.S. Code, Section 1552. This, if I am understanding the form correctly, is to get your RE Code upgraded to a code that can be waived (if for example a discharge type/RE Code was given in error). Now, being that you got an RE-8, and want to go back in the Navy, you may need a waiver just for that RE Code. You would also probably need a waiver for the medical aspect of your situation. This dog may not be able to hunt no more. But that's just a guess. The only people that are gonna know for sure is the Recruiters.

Right. That’s what I was thinking. I don’t need to upgrade an entry level separation. I wasn’t able to get ahold of my original recruiter but I sent an email to one in the same office to see what they recommend. I’m not sure if my old recruiter is even there still since there was a lot of new recruiters around the time I attempted to get the waiver.

These case by case basis…when you were at Mel’s did they not tell you why you were initially denied? Then when your recruiter sent in the waiver did they not explain why you were denied. Also the next best option maybe to try another branch in the reserves possibly. Every branch has their specifics and protocols. It’s also weird that you made it through boot camp got hurt during schooling and then just immediately Medical discharged.

They did not. I tried to ask but I wasn't able to get any answers. My recruiter did not say anything about why I was denied. He called me while I was at work to tell me I was denied and I was supposed to call him the next day but I never was able to get through to him. I think I may have been ghosted. I really want to stick with the Navy. I'm not interested in any other branches. I could try but I'm not sure really. As far as getting hurt and then immediately discharged, that's what they did to me. They did that to five other people the same day as me that had similar injuries. There were some other recruits that got to go back to training that had similar injuries as well. I'm not sure what their reasoning behind everything was. I wasn't allowed to ask questions. I have been reading that I should have gotten a letter of denial but I never received anything. Do you know anything about that?

Also, everyone I interacted with on the Navy end including the Chief at MEPS that checked me into the Navy office said it was weird they separated me. They all think I should have been allowed to stay. I know that doesn't really change anything or help.
