Was it pride? Or how about tradition? It could have been peer pressure. It might even have been to evade the law. There is a reason why each of us originally decided to join the military. For me, I had nothing else. After high school, in the late 80's, in an economic recession and with no financial future, I had to find a way out. Luckily for me the Army took me in and I never looked back. How about you? What was your reason for raising your right hand and swearing the oath? Use those typing skills and let us know

We've all had something that motivated us to seek-out a recruiter or officer selection officer... what was it for you? What motivated you to reenlist, stay in, or to sign-up? Perhaps it was a respected family member, coach, or community leader that you looked up to; for some of us it was adventure, travel, training, discipline, or physical fitness, and others it was simply to get out of the hometown for awhile and see something new. Whatever the reason, I thoroughly respect your decision to serve, and have always been interested in what drives each of you to selflessly serve your nation. Many citizens 'think about' military service, everyone in this group signed-on-the-dotted-line to actually 'perform' military service... so,what was it that motivated you most to make (or continue) that commitment? Please feel free to share any photos, web links, sound files or anything needed to tell your story. Thank you for all that you do each-and-every-day, and... see you all in the discussion threads!
