My previous ets was 20211014 I re-enlisted on 20201002. I re-enlisted for 6 years. My new ets is 20261002. My bonus dates is for 20 [login to see] 1002 which is 5 years am I missing something? It should’ve been the 6 yr bonus instead of the 5 right?

That's not 5 years, that's 4 years 11 months. You would have had to reenlist on 16 October for it to be 5 years. Since the bonus message changed on the 15th I would guess that's why your counselor reenlisted you so early. Unless there was a reason you absolutely had to reenlist immediately it was kind of a dick move on their part since the bonus didn't change for your MOS, unless you were actually a SSG then it makes perfect sense because then you were losing $20,000 ish

Your new contact doesn't start until you fulfill the current contract

SFC John Wade - Is this a change? I always thought you had to finish out your current contract before starting a new one, but you could reenlist within the last 12 months, you just had to wait for the new contract to go into effect. I could be mistaken, but I thought that's how it has been.

I think that might be a reserve component thing. For AD you are immediately discharged and the contract starts the day of reenlistment

SFC (Join to see) - That would explain it. I was trying to think back on my own career and what I read didn't jibe with what I experienced. But, I also know I don't know everything, especially concerning retention. Thank you for the comment. It makes much more sense now.
