I joined infantry right out of college as enlisted as I only had a year into college. This was a big mistake, I get to my unit and everyone hates it (including myself). I was told I could reclass after a year in with the approval of the commander. I would like to know what all goes into this and how to go about it. I’m looking at 27D and yes I have the scores for it.

A person is capable of reclassing after a year. You, are not eligible to reclass. You are in an understrength MOS, so you will not be eligible for a voluntary reclass. When it comes time to re-enlist, depending upon the strength of your MOS, you may be able to select a different MOS.
The commander is not the approval Authority for reclass, it is HRC.

Yeah...let the dummies like myself...serve in combat Arms...I was a 11B / 19D when I was 47 as an E-4. I'am sorry you made a mistake and so sorry everyone hates it. Maybe in JAG you can help bring charges and convictions against 11B's... might be fun and you can use your high scores and College to put those SOB's in their places. I know a 11B Veteran...he cuts himself with razor blades... I guess he made a mistake too. Well good luck on your new Army career...make sure you frame your Awards, certificates and proudly wear your Achievement medals. PS: my GCT was 126...with no higher then 9th grade math and English taken.

1. Speak with your company commander or field counselor about your desire to change your MOS.
2. Complete DA Form 4187. This form allows you to make personal requests based on your current needs. Be sure to select the “reclassification” option on the form. If there is a specific MOS you desire, indicate this on the form.
3. Submit the completed form to your company commander or field counselor. He will let you know whether your request will be honored.

PV2 (Join to see) - "Beg and plead" with your Commander. Remember, they don't have to approve it.

Unlikely, now, but you can try.
Your rank is listed as PVT, unless it's incorrect. If it is correct, I believe you should first correct whatever led to that, before you try to reclass.

Not at all. Just a NCO that takes my profession seriously and this uniform even more serious. it's a shame that you do not.

Typical of a pog. The reality is that there isn’t much to be taken seriously. Homeboy here can’t hack it as a grunt and wants to bitch out. That’s hilarious and pretty sad at the same time. You seem to believe that professionalism sprouts out of courtesy and regulations. I know that professionalism is best found in places where courtesy is largely ignored and regulations generally laughed at.
