We have almost 150 members on RallyPoint with that current MOS. One thing to do is just search for "68C" in the upper right corner and ask to connect with a few of them. I'm sure they would be willing to help.

You'll have to talk to your unit's retention NCO, he/she will be able to better assess the needs of the army for this MOS. Just as a guess though, yes, I'm down here for school right now, and there are new soldier coming from both BCT and Prior Units daily.

I spoke to my Battalion retention NCO in June, and she said they were short on 68C for E-4 and E-5, and they were offering bonuses for soldiers going into the MOS. It's a tough course, but a medical MOS offers a good chance on getting a job as a civilian, among other perks.

If you search out information on 68WM6 you might find more information about it, that is what it was called up until last year. Not much has changed yet except the name. The big difference right now is that 68C students no longer go through the Medic/68W training prior to attending the course. Also, previously active duty SMs had to be a 68W for a year prior to attending the course. I don't believe that is the case any longer. If you are interested in the course you would do a 4187 requesting reclassification to the new MOS...and then you go from there. It's a tough and LONG course. Phase 1 is 11 weeks at Fort Sam and then Phase 2 is 44 weeks, held at 5 different locations in the US. If you have a family they are able to join you at your phase 2 location. At the end of the course you will sit for the Texas LVN licensing test (NCLEX), and you must pass this exam to be awarded the MOS. That answered pretty much all but two of my questions. First, is there any way to sway the decision for location for Phase II because my wife and I are currently in the MDW area and Walter Reed is not too far from where we live. Second, will I be able to drive my POV to phase I or are they prohibited like most other AITs?

The Phase 2 location depends solely on when you graduate phase 1. The whole phase 1 class moves on to phase 2 together. I know for this FY class 14-005 and 14-010 are staying at Fort Sam for phase 2. You can find all the info on ATARRS. The only issue with trying to time phase 1 to go to a certain phase 2 is that if you do not make it through the first time and they recycle you to a different class...you go to that class's phase 2 site. POVs are allowed for everyone once you hit phase 5+ (near the end of phase 1 I believe), but as prior service that might be different for you. Driving it there...I really don't know what the rule is. I guess there is nothing stopping you from driving it there to report in, and parking it until you are "allowed" to drive.

I have been looking into reclassing and was told that my family would be moved as well due to the length of the ait.
I am pregnant currently and plan to breastfeed. I see the 11wks of phase 1 as quite some time away from my child who may be in an entire other state from me. Is there someone I can talk with to get better clarity on this?

No matter where you are coming from this course is roughly a year and two months. It has two phases, first being 12 weeks. Second is roughly 10 months.

Can anyone recommend a Packing List, and a Prohibited Items list for this school? Also is there anything that I can have for Phase II that I would be able to store somewhere before then?

It's a PCS move for Phase II. Phase I is all classwork and PT. Just need the normal barracks items and ACUs/PTs.

Hi, I was wondering if this information is still current? I'm re-classing to 68C and about to start Phase 1 in a few weeks. I have both CIF and RFI issues. I don't want to bring everything and risk losing them if we're not gonna use it. Please advice. Thank you in advance.

Whether you bring your own gear or not you'll do a CIF draw there for whatever they want you to have. It's personal preference whether you'd like your own gear or not. But definitely bring your ACUs, ASUs and all PT uniforms. SPC (Join to see) -

So I just received my orders for this Re-class, and I am to report to "Brooke Army Medical Center Student Company (W2DN1C). However, I can't find any information to which staff duty or anywhere that I am supposed to specifically report to. Any help??
