I have heard from several people that Medical Officers can take the CA Q course without reclassing? I have heard several people say it's doable, but I would like to know what the regs are. I asked this in another post, but what's to ask it on its own. Thank you

Army medical loans you to civil affairs so yes you can take the Q course. I knew a nurse who was also qualified in psyop Psychological operations. We were both in the same 75th/84th training command and she was on my team.

That's an irrelevant question, the regs have no real bearing on that. The real question you have to ask yourself is where does one find a USASOC aligned unit that can sponsor someone to the course? And will SWC approve that training request?

Psychological operations and civil affairs used to be functional areas but I think they are now branches but you are allowed to take them them because it enhances your career.

CPT (Join to see) Ask your command. Others have done it before you but I don't know the exact procedure. Speak to your S3 or BN commander

CPT (Join to see) If you know what unit you want to go to, speak to that recruiter assigned to that unit. The unit full time AGR DCO/XO/S3 will tell you if there are positions available at the unit you want to go to.

CPT (Join to see) Once you are in the unit you want to be in, they will then schedule you for the qualification course required. I went to civil affairs school at Fort Bragg 2 months after I joined the unit.

CPT (Join to see) As long as you have a good PT score or pass the ACF T and and you have your captain's Is career course out of the way, that's all that's required unless they change the rules. I did go to civil affairs qualification course in 2006 but I doubt you will have a trouble getting in.
