With all this talk about Equality, I have noticed something. It seem's this version of equality many preach of today, isnt true equality. It seems to be a system where they take the good parts about equality (Special Operations, Combat MOS's etc...) but there isn't much being said about the downsides (i.e the selective services/ draft)

I am against doing this in principle, but i believe that is a required measure for Equality..... even though i think its a terrible idea in theory....

Now with that being said, some groups like SWAN (Service Womens Action Network) are for women signing up for the draft (As they are made up of female service members and veterans), but some of the civilian feminist organizations are against it. Thoughts?

With the fight for equality in the military and the recent decision by the Army to open combat arms MOS's to women in the Army, being so much in the news and discussion, do you think that women of the required Selective Service age group should be made to register as their male counterparts are?

Women's rights advocates - "We want equal rights!"

Man - "okay ladies, you get infantry and Ranger school!"

WRA - "Yea"

Man - "sign here for selective service!"

WRA - "What?????????????????????"

I remember during my second deployment (Brigade QRF Senior Medic) division SGM had an NCO meeting with us about combat roles being integrated with females... I couldn't stop laughing.... because on our FOB, females weren't authorized to pull tower guard with the ANA... which made me laugh out loud during the briefing.... How do you expect me to accept female combat arms when you segregate tower guard for them?

I've been there and its not only in the military but in society. I remember working in fast food restaurants growing up. The females had the easy clean jobs while males had nasty and messy jobs that is unless the female wasn't very attractive but that wasn't my fault.

I believe in equal rights, women should be made to sign up for the draft.

Could you direct me to a couple of these feminist groups that are against women signing up for selective service?

So I couldn't find the original article for this, because I posted this 6 months ago, but I googled up "Feminists against drafting women" and there were a bunch of results. I figured you could explore on your own instead of me just posting random links.
