I actually work for the Air National Guard as a contractor so I know a little bit about how their promotions work. I would say up to E5 it's fairly consistent. For E6 and above however, it seems like it takes an act of God to get promoted. It's all about "authorized billets."

PO3 Thong, Thank you for the response. The question was posed to me that one side was getting preferential treatment over the other. I wasn't exactly sure I agreed, and I thought I'd pose that question to ALL the branches and ranks.
I'm still not sold one one gets more promotions than the other in the Army Reserves, so i posed it to Guard and Reserve of all services for input.

MAJ (Join to see) - well, for example on a office program that I had been trying to get into, Reserve had no opening, but active have an easy pick. It is not always about "preferential". It just the way how it work for opening.

Ask your LPO buddy if he's ever chaired Blue Jacket of the Quarter boards. From the ones I've been on, the Navy is just as bad (good? LOL) as the Army!

I don't know about the Air Force, or if this is a real video or not, but I can speak from personal experience that Navy boards are just as bad!

Oh I am sure it is pretty realistic! I just don't see this getting released via YouTube unless they had some kind of joke going on. If it was authentic then it should have been cleared by Public Affairs, and I certainly cannot see Army PA clearing anything like this. So it is either fake or a HUGE violation of Army Communications Policy.
