Is it possible for a single E-5 in the army who has orders to Korea to reside off base in an apartment or in on base housing? Asking because I have a pet that I’m trying to keep with me.

No. There's an entire command sponsorship packet required to reside off post and bring a human family with you. They're certainly not going to put you on the economy for a pet.

Bringing your family to Korea! The Republic of Korea is a great place to serve and grow, personally and professionally, for both Soldiers and their Family members.

That's not going to happen. Even if it did happen, you wouldn't know until you were already over there and got that exception processed to live off base. You absolutely cannot live in any on post housing family housing without a family.

We all love our pets like family, but remember that bringing pets to South Korea is a privilege, not an entitlement.

It is not likely that you will get quarters on or off base, you should make plans for your pet. Government quarters are right. And even if you find and can afford your own place out of pocket, you will have to have a plan to care for the pet during training, duty and emergency ops. Again, you should make plans, leaving a pet alone for the number of hours you will be at work would be abuse.
