PO3 Chris Scheide - I thought during WWII it would make sense when there was the possibility of a ship being lost to enemy action, and being stuck on an island in the pacific trying to blend in wearing blue dungarees, not an easy task. I doubt that there will be any large scale ship to ship combat again, so that is less of a real need anymore.
