Curious about sapper school I saw that it’s open to all units (I am in 82nd BEB and a 25N). I also read that there’s what appears to be a restriction per MOS, I was curious to know if there is a possible waive for this or not?

The 82nd will absolutely send you to the Sapper Leader Course, especially if you're in the BEB

No, there is not an MOS restriction, BUT priority of slots go to 12B's (21B's which ever they are this week), Marine 1371 (Marine Combat Engineer), 11B's, 18C's and 19D's. You also have to be E4 and that isn't waiverable.

The Sapper Leader Course is primarily for those in the 12 Series MOS. I remember back in the day that only those with a 12 series MOS could attend. That may have changed since my 12B days. If you really want to get answers, email them:

I remember back in the day when a 12B was a sapper, a demo specialist, a bridge crewman, a construction specialist, a plumber, a carpenter, a paving machine operator, a truck driver, a HYVC installer, a dozer operator, a grader operator, a crane operator, a front end loader operator and an anything else that needs to be done specialist, all at once or on an as needed basis. There was not any of this “you have to be” to be a 12B. I was a 2400. I was a “general engineer officer”. I was also “an anything else that needed to be done specialist” because that’s the way it was back then. As the song says “the times they are a changing”. Now there is a “this is what you have to be to do .....” which is locked in stone. I think maybe the good ol days really were the good ol days.
