The rolled sleeves ended up with the transition from BDU to ACU. What are your thoughts about bringing this back with the new uniform pattern? It should be part of the summer months....

I hated when we went to sleeves down permanently, especially in the summer, as it went against everything I knew from growing up in southern Florida. However, it does actually keep you cooler as it traps the perspiration on the skin instead of allowing it to evaporate; it also prevents the lower arms from becoming sun burned when you are constantly working outside. I say keep it as is, it's been this way for over a decade and there is no practical need to do away with it. In response to the Marines looking sharper, well that may be because they do not have an entire uniform that looks like crap from jump street.

SFC William Swartz Jr, I find it so darned annoying when you cavalry types force me to agree with you by saying sensible things...

Actually SPC (P) Tony M, by trapping the sweat close to the body and allowing it to evaporate more slowly, it keeps your body cooler as it does not evaporate as QUICKLY as it would if your sleeves are up.

The lighter brown desert colors help repel the sun's heat better with sleeves down. I remember the darker forest color uniforms always burned me up with sleeves down. Those that don't remember those uniforms are the ones who don't understand why sleeves down now is better option.

SFC William Swartz Jr - yeah but with sleeves down, it sometimes doesn't evaporate at all, it just runs down and drips off your fingertips, thus providing zero cooling. Especially in high humidity areas. lol

That 3 inch above the elbow bend thing would keep a lot of big armed guys from rolling them up, I'd say. Rolled sleeves sitting on the elbow looks 'long' and a bit unsightly. They need to be above the bicep for comfort.
Also, there are those combat patches. Rolling them up would be a buzzkill in that aspect.
