Should I do ranger school before rasp to get the tab or should I do rasp and then do tanger school to strengthen me ?

That depends on who you are and where you are in your journey. If you're a civilian you need to just get into the Army first. Most people with Option 40 contracts don't make it. If you're in the Army already it might be a different answer.
FYI you don't need an option 40 contract to volunteer for RASP it's open to everyone

What the H**L is RASP? I got my tab in March (I believe) of 1966. I went from IOBC to Ranger school dn then over to the Airborne course. Lat time I jumped a C-119 or ever saw one flying. Please educate me about RASP what has been done sine I retired .

Ranger Assessment and Selection Program. Ranger school (and the tab) are separate from the 75th Ranger Regiment, and have been for some time. Now, I believe most Officers in combat roles go through the school, when though they will be nowhere near actual Rangers.

A guy a year ahead of me in ROTC jumped from a C-119 At Jump School in 1972. It was C-130s and C141s when I went in 1973.

I believe RASP is the same thing we called RIP. It's the path you to get into one of the battalions in the 75th regiment.

Since when I went Basic, AIT, Jump, and Ranger school earned my tab but never in Regiment

Unless things have changed since I was at Benning attached to the Infantry School if you wish to be assigned to the Ranger Regiment, in a combat arms MOS you must go thru RASP, formerly RIP, prior to being assigned to a Ranger Regiment unit. Then you a earn an opportunity to attend Ranger school.
The rest of the Army works the other way. You put in a packet to attend Ranger School just like any other school. You must have graduated from Airborne school prior to attending. You do not have to go thru the RASP course to attend either.

SSG (Join to see) what's not true? Many soldiers are Ranger tabbed and then go to the Regiment.
