Thinking about reclassing to 13F or 13B, with the other option staying in the engineer Corp and switching to 12B any advice?

I can only speak from the experience of having been a 12B for my first MOS, and boy was it fun! I'd personally stay within CMF 12 if I were you, as the skills are still translatable and may look better on you for further rank and career progression.

Since you're a 12N you'll be able to promote faster if you are a 12b and 12N since we work together on ESP platoons. 13 series is not a bad option but you might take more advantage since your pmos is 12N

12b all day.. there is a mentality for every mos.. 12b has got to be the most fun of them all.. and you have so many schools available as a 12b.. I wish I would of started as a 12b

That was my thought when I originally chose 12N over 12B and it’s funny you say that my chief has been trying to convince me to do the same

20 years 12B. I retired. No real skills to use. Legally anyway. Warrant gets you out of the daily dumb crap and the paperwork to show you were more than just a dirt pusher.

You can work on construction on demolition. I have a NG friend who work for a construction company taking down bulding and lands and get paid well. Or you can join a Police Department and join their SWAT as a breaching Team Officer.

Crossing over to another career field can put you at a complete disadvantage. You will, as an E-5, be expected to know that gun really well, and possibly run it. Same if you go for 13F. My advice, stay where you are.

The 12B mission is constantly changing as with any MOS & its just not what it used to be, especially with the draw down. Something that has peaked my interest as of recently is 51C. However, it seems as if you want to go into combat arms, so why regular Army & not some sort of Special Operations such as SF, PO or CA? They'll always have something going on in every part of the world.

I'd say during my grunt time as an 11C, I loved my Fisters who were squared away. Definitely a good MOS. I'm looking at reclassing to that myself. 13B can be fun, but from my experience working with them, you may have more opportunities as a F

12B was great for me, just dangerous as all hell. Choose wisely. So I reclassed.
