On the one hand, I believe it can be very helpful... on the other, I question the sheer volume of stuff amount of stuff soldiers have to learn these days that doesn't center around the need to shoot, move and communicate.

SGT (Join to see) That topic is already covered in MRT, part of the Self-Regulation Competency. And since we get MRT once a quarter, plus every time we PCS to a new duty station, I think that's more than enough training.

I have to agree , I am an MRT and that's part of the aim already. We have enough requirements to get done;especially for the guard and reserves; that if a leader feels they are struggling in an area like emotional intelligence they should on some level self identify and seek guidance or advice. The tools and resources are out there, no one is perfect nor is every situation the same. I don't believe some Soldiers needing a little guidance warrants addition or manditory training for all leaders.

This sounds like part of the PC movement. Heh, I want to see someone explain the Stock Market using Emotional Intelligence. They are either a very rich person or it will be entertaining reading.
