Should RallyPoint Web designer consider adding a Section in the Profile for Military Awards for both military personnel and civilian personnel?

Do you think RP members will be honest for the most part and only add those they actually received?
(or)
Do you think some RP members will add awards they didn't actually receive?
(or)
Do you think there is no need for another "love me" section on the profile?

Please vote and provide your thoughts?

I think that there is enough detail in the profile already that not having the rack is actually a detracting factor. I know when I was filling my profile in and entering duty station information and training and certifications that I was surprised by, and missed, the exclusion of awards or honours.

We don't need to see each others awards. We all served or are currently serving. That's enough for me. Besides, we have been in the game long enough to know what awards accompany the MOS or Specialty.

Thanks, that didn't come up when I typed in the question, RP admin can get rid of this one as redundant.

Well, if you voted for this regime, you probably don't place a lot of importance on being honest. And about 1/2 the population is willfully ignorant and could care less about the character and background of the politicians they elect. That said, if the military represents a cross section of our society and can't tell the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, truth and lies... it's a virtual guarantee that some will intentionally exaggerate their awards/decorations.

But I don't plan on losing any sleep over it. If people want to compare, the Marines will be at a disadvantage because they are the stingiest with awards. But knowing that and seeing some Air Force Admin type with a chest full of medals and Purple Hearts for paper cuts... Knock yourselves out.

I will post my actual awards. I see no reason to lie about it. Those who do have to look at themselves in the mirror at night and like what they see. I couldn't get myself to do that if I lied about my background.

Shameless plug: If only our politicians had the same kind of integrity we expect of our service members, Washington might be in better shape.

What about now Jeff? There has been a regime change. No more paper cut ribbons being issued I hope.

PO3 John Wagner - Remains to be seen how fast there's a 'trickle down" effect. They still have to recruit and retain kids who have gone through a system of "everyone gets a trophy for participating".

Yes. Add the option to the profile.
However, also ensure the various federal and state civilian service and public service awards are available, nit just federal and state military awards.
It is an option which should be available. The choice to post should also be up to the individual

We've all got chest candy. Some more than others. I think the concept would only serve to detract from what we're trying to do here and that's promote professional discussion and debate about matters we care about. Just my two cents.

I dont know. I like my ribbons few as they maybe. I'ld display them. But then there is a stolen valor issue. Hate the sound of that. But it would be cool.

SGT Edward Perez thanks for your comments. I agree, but there is a lot of information that is provided on the RallyPoint site that is information provided by the service member. Everyone is really on their own to provide accurate and true information. It comes down to integrity by each individual member

I can see where members would be concerned about ones that may enhance their awards. I would hate to think there would be members who were constantly checking to see if others who posted awards were being truthful just to "out" them on this site. It would make things uncomfortable where now generally everything is quite friendly.

I think it may add a certain flavor to the page. I think for the most part Service Members will be honest about their awards, and if not they have to live with the lie. I am pretty sure someone will call them out if they are lie.
