Aside from line units or motor pools (or any other physical-type duty), should the Army move to a more professional uniform for daily duties?

If we're truly trying to more to a more professional looking group, (hairstyles, tattoos, etc.) why not go to the Class B/Tropical uniform on a daily basis?

In my current assignment, I use a lot my B's for official travel, so I took upon myself to buy 3 extra pants, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts. Believe me it sucks paying for it, but look at the bright side you will always have an extra uniform to spare.

MSG Quick, some assignments like the Pentagon, White House, and anything above the 2 star level merits the wear of the class b on a daily bases, in my opinion.

One point that is not mentioned on this kind of surveys is that military personnel will need to get ready to become civilians one day.

As military men and women, we are used to wearing duty uniforms. No big deal. No need to shine boots anymore. The decision of whether to idon your uniform or not is gone. And, the ony requirement is that you shave and get a hair cut every so often.

Some, do not even bathe or wear deodorant.

Class B's would augment the contrast, force military personnel to observe enhanced hygene, and subconciously, help create healthy, read: employable, habits for the not so distant future.

I do believe thier are jobs that this would be practical. As an old 13 series the line unit wasnt one of them. But admin jobs, Recruiting duty. I worked for a while at post HQ, B's would have been fine.

People have to know that one thing is one thing, and another thing is another. The fatigue or combat uniform has been designed especifically for combat and heavy duty work with boots and everything else. The rest of the time, like is been done in the civilian world, people use light comfortable clothing or coat and tie to go to work, unless you work in construction or other heavy duty kind of job. That's the reason why we should move to the use of the dress uniforms for a daily use,as it was done for years and years in the military and no one had any problems at all in doing this until now.
So let's do the things the right way and stop looking for unrationale excuses to continue looking like cram in the military.

Only soldiers who would suggest this would be the “all show, no-go” type.

Class B TW's from the early days of my military life, maybe (late 70's, early 80's). That was a good looking uniform that could stand a little rough treatment. Not these office dweller togs. But seriously, I think that by having one uniform for daily wear for line units and another for CS/CSS personnel, you are creating an artificial dividing line between "classes" of soldier. Lord knows, we already have a perceived separation between combat soldiers and "fobbits and REMP's". Let's not multiply the problem by making those support people wear a different uniform.

WTF? If you want an office job, which is about the only place this kind of uniform is appropriate I suggest the Air Force.

Col Oseles,

With respect, Sir; your comment was not becoming of a senior officer such as yourself. As close to a “down vote” as I could come until I realized your account must have been hacked or an imposter gained access for a senior officer such as yourself would not stoop to such comments.

As far as uniforms: While in garrison/base/ship utilities as work requires. However, out in public a class A/B or even your service uniform. Take a little pride in yourself and your service.

The Air Force went to this if you had a non-maintenance job or were not on flying status for that day you are required to wear the service blues. There are a few others like security forces in non office positions and firemen but other than that everyone on base should be in blues unless deployed to the desert.
