Aside from line units or motor pools (or any other physical-type duty), should the Army move to a more professional uniform for daily duties?

If we're truly trying to more to a more professional looking group, (hairstyles, tattoos, etc.) why not go to the Class B/Tropical uniform on a daily basis?

It is uncomfortable as it is. Every Wednesday at my second MOS school (68X) We had to wear the Class B even as prior service to class. I cannot imagine wearing it 5-7 days a week. And that may cause financial problems for some lower enlisted because of the constant need for dry cleaning and purchasing additional uniforms to keep up with the professional appearance. But believe me MSG Quick, the uniform is very sharp, and I love it, but even in an admin roll I don't know how well it will work out.

wow, the marine corps really takes care of that expense. i wonder if it has to do with the relatively low number of overall personnel in service.

Because in the Civilian Market you choose your employer and you can switch jobs for a better paying one. You get sign on bonuses and can claim clothing on your taxes as expenses related to work. A PVT in the service cannot afford such expenses on a 700 every 2 weeks paycheck.

Sgt Sondrol, when did you attend 68X school. I entered as a 68X 2 years ago and the only time we wore our Dress Blues was for graduation.
