I really like that 9.7-pound "unoptimized" weight without any gadgetry strapped on. We've made so much progress reducing the soldiers' load in the years since we issued 6.3-pound M16 rifles.

Except that's not 10 pounds for an LMG, PV2 Aaron Bennett. That's a 9.7-pound replacement for the M4 *carbine*!

PV2 Aaron Bennett, look at the picture of the weapon, then read the accompanying caption. The picture is for a nominal replacement for an M4A1 carbine.

9.7lbs with no optics, IR sights, flash light or forward grip. Might as well have an M1 Garand.
