In the event that a Soldier is returning fire with a side arm then many things have probably already gone bad. Assuming that you were in a situation that required the use of a sidearm would you prefer the current M9 or something else? My desire would be a heavier slow moving round such as the .45 ACP with double stack magazines.

I found this very interesting article on Concealed Nation that the FBI chooses the 9mm after putting science to use. are you convinced the 9mm is better. I am not but it is a good debate. Link below.

Lets hear your opinion on the Beretta M9? Should we scrap it and get a better weapon? If so, then what pistol should the Military look into? My suggestion would be 3 different pistols, the Glock 22(.40 Cal), The Sig Sauer P229 or the Smith & Wesson M&P .40cal. Why .40cal you ask? Because sometimes 9mm isn't enough knock down power, .45 is too big for many too handle and I feel .40 is a happy median of stopping power.
