Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

I'm in the process of a double dipping attempt.
I finally got rated 100% a 2 years ago (total & permanent).
I am now on the process of an appeal for SSI.
For approximately 8 years, I struggled financially due to not being able to work.
When I quit working, I was drawing $600/month.
My wife worked and I stayed home with our son.
I'm still trying to dig myself out of a financial whole.
I should have been rated total disabled when I got kicked out 25 years ago.
It was nightmare for me fighting the VA.
I fought while fucking fuckheads scammed the system for 100% and still held full time jobs.
I am not referring to everyone, so don't get your feelings hurt.
There are some that know how to work the system fraudulently.
I do take issue with full retirement and getting 100%, and then SSI on top?
But if you can sleep at night, more power to you I guess.

I think most hit it on the head... If you did your time and made it to retirement or got hurt and left early then you get the prize. Most in the military spend their best years manning the walls of democracy and doing what needs to be done for the next generation. It's a shame that when things get tight that our own citizens would want to cut or take away what was promised. I say get all you can if you earned it. If you lie and scheme to get more benefits then I hope karma finds you!

I would rather see troops that can qualify get all they can rather than those who get all their taxes paid back plus thousands more thanks to "Earned Income". Zeroing out I can see, but getting more than you paid in; no wonder there is not enough bucks to go around.

What bothers me is being a 20 year retired member with a 40% disability rating that should be more and having my disability taken from my retirement pay! No other place does this, I know the changes were made for those 50% and higher can get both. Commendable but it should apply to all no matter what the rating.

The few "triple dippers" I know are not living loves of luxury nor of comfort in the lap of luxury. Inane comments like this are from obviously uneducated (on this matter) asshats who have nothing better than to whine over "what somebody else got". Hey, bub, what they did to qualify wasn't fun or even a preferred situation, given the choice. STFU, and be thankful for their service and sacrifice.

yes the gov't is racking in millions. The vets worked hard for what they get. I'm 90% VA and 10% unemployable and don't get SSA not dead enough

I didn't appreciate the "rot in hell" quote from a Master Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. Be thankful that you have your health! For ret/vets like myself, the money isn't everything. I would rather be 100 percent healthy than have a rating of 100 percent! My 100 percent is still employable as per Social Security. So Master Chief, you must want me to quit my OPM job and just rely on retired pay and VA compensation? My family comes first sorry. Now if we rate it, then we all should receive it! This is just my opinion'

My husband is a MASC(Ret). The military rates him at 90%. He would love to be out there busting his ass working. However, his severe lower back problems make it impossible. He's prone to back spasms that I've personally seen drop him to his knees. He suffers from migraines that only let up after he's slept in total darkness for up to 16 hrs. He had to fight SS for nearly 2 years for compensation that they freely give to crackheads,etc. I made him fight. He didn't want to do it. He paid into SS since he was 16. He serve this country for 25 years and would have gone on to 30. However,it was physically impossible for him to do it. So, anyone who thinks he doesn't deserve what he gets. You can tell him that when you've walked in his boots.

I'm not a triple dipper, however, if you have sacrificed yourself and meet the Givernments prerequisites for the programs, you deserve what is offered, period end of sentence. Haters will hate and assholes will be assholes!! Quite frankly fuck the haters and assholes!! Most are probably wannabe heroes who pole smoked their way into leadership positions.

Should we be triple dipping? What a question. I am 100% disabled unemployable, with SSDI. I didn't ask for this. It was given that way. If it was my choice I would put those boots back on and ask for one more round on the ground. The pain I live with isn't fixed with a greenback at any level. Injections, pt, all the meds that make you forget your name. What kind of post I'd this? It is full of negative connotations and insinuates we are doing something illegal or unethical. I wouldn't wish this life on anyone. You think receiving $3400 a month is living? Do the math your going no where forever. I gave it my best is what I keep telling myself. Was it worth it? Always! The money, well you only hope they don't pass a bill and cut it cause its all you get forever. Here is another so called dipping for you. My wife went and registered as my in home care giver like she was instructed to do! Now she gets $259 more a month. Quadruple dipping. You going to come help her bathe me everyday? Reality sucks for some of us. Why don't you go after a congressman who makes well over $100,000 yr in retirement. Thanks for caring.
