Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

If they qualify for it then the earned it. If your disability (service related) keeps you from functioning than you deserve what is offered.

Well I can say I only served 8 years but I was deemed 100% disabled due to a mixture of permanent severe nerve damage and mental health issues including insomnia ptsd nightmare disorder and MDD just the pain alone is crippling enough for me to barely be able to walk around without a cane

Retirement is earned! Social security is paid into and earned! Nobody has a say in these, you nor I! To get SSDI you get disapproved, have to get a lawyer and personally go before a judge.

You also have to go through a lot to get VA Dis. You will probably get disapproved at first there also. Then maybe a small rating. Heavy forbid you get blown up! We all know and feel our injuries more and more as we get older. If you were hurt in the military, the VA owes you this! Yes, they do!

I got medically retired after 17 years. 100% VA first time go and 70% CRSC. I've been very blessed. I've managed to keep all of my fingers and toes but, my back, neck, shoulder, hip shoulder, knees and brain has been damaged alot. My grandpa is a 2 time Vietnam veteran, retired a 1SG after 20 plus years. He always told me. Boy, the Army messed you up. Take them for everything you got. You earned it. He fought the VA for years and only a few years ago finally got his ratings and his CRSC. He did not want me or my family to struggle the same way. Yall do what you do.

I have done too much and seen too much!!!!! If you can give me back my youth, my innocence, my Kidney and a half, the effects of my Cancer-ridden body, and my healthy body and let me sleep without nightmares, I’ll be happy to give you my Army retirement pay, my VA Disability and my Social Security!!! ⚔️

Hell im 100% VA and got turned down by Social Security. I hurt every day and deal with it. I have doctors appointments 3-4 days a week now. So much for what is deserved. I hope the lawyer can solve this issue. The SS office also said that doctors have to use their rules. So the SS office has health rules that are different from the standard doctor. Interesting!!

For those wondering, if you meet the requirements there is a program known as Concurrent Disability and Retired Pay, where you can be retired for time in service, then become service connected disabled through the VA and receive both Retirement and Disability through the VA, but you must apply for it. I know because I retired with 20 years, then became service connected disabled originally at 80% later upped to 100% and receive both and now SSDI at 100% because of Rheumatoid Arthritis that has already cost me both of my knees.

The government loves giving money away. So personally I love seeing a veteran get every damn dime they can get.

When you receive a VA disability payment, then your service retirement payment is docked that amount! Yes, your disability payment is tax free so that is a benefit, but your not getting a double payment! Therefore there is no such thing as a triple dipping!

I’d rather see a brother who served triple dip, than someone who never serve single dip! If you answered the call, our nation owes you.. period!
