Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

When I think of the corporate fatcats, may of them crooks, being bailed out, yes, our fighting men deserve every break.

You served, you earned it. Go get it.

Retirement and disability is two different things. If you have served 20+ years and have retired. You have earned that. As far as service connected disabilities and those payments should be payed and considered separate regardless of the rating.

It's funny how civilians think we get handed everything on a silver platter!!!

I don’t understand this. If you are receiving money, the perception should be is that it is due to you, not that you are scheming the system. To receive retirement or veterans benefits, you don’t have to be impoverished with no assets (except to utilize the veterans homes). If you retire and have shown that you have a service connected disability, you earned the right to claim it! It is not charity. I used to hear this about military retirees that went to work for the Government. They had to start just like anyone else, but because they were earning a paycheck, civilians would yell at the top of their lungs, no fair they are double dipping! But it was ok if they had went to work as a contractor. Still getting paid from the government, but thru a contract. If sime folks don’t have anything else to bitch about, they will make something up.

So.apprently they don't like my comment about this because they removed it so I will make it easy...if you have to ask this question then you have never had to go thru what you have to go thru to get it and you shouldn't pose a question like that unless you have been thru the process. Trust me it isn't just given out

Bottom line if u qualify get it.... what about the troops that got injured and can't work either from Todd or a injury shouldn't they be able to triple dip so they can make a living and raise a family because we all know there is no way to do that unless you are triple dipping. So for all u out there that say no probably never spent a day in a icu or being evac off some MSR like oh i.dont know maybe route irish or whale in 2004 thru 2007 then after you get tubes shoved into every hole in your body and then evac to Germany spend a week there having army docs actually performing surgery on you oh and you live thru that alone. Then you get sent to some state side program that is attached to the base hospital and then you survive that and all the medical boards after that and by the grace of God the army and the govt seem to think thwre is no way you can stay in or ever work a job again "you get to triple dip" that's what it takes to get that u just don't put in a form or two trust me. So for you to even ask that question amazes me. For those of you that don't think it's rite well I bet you haven't been there yet because I bet it's not coming from the ones that have....come on people take care of our troops if they qualify let them get it period

Oh, yes. When I retired after 24 1/2 years of active duty, I went into Law Enforcement, and after another 30+ years retired from that job. after a few years I took a part-time job with local University just to keep busy. Oh yeah, BTW, before I retired from Law Enforcement, I started to draw Social Security. So I guess I am a Triple Dipper And a half. Enjoying every minute of it and I DON'T miss any of my previous jobs. Forgot, I am rated at 40% VA (Combat related) so does that make me a Quadruple Dipper. So be it. And, I dare ANYONE to say I don't deserve it.

Both a pension and SS are earned through hard work, sacrifice that most cannot imagine. If a military retiree is disabled as a result of his active duty he darn sure deserves compensation via a VA rating. If a non retiree receives a rating because of injuries incurred on active duty obviously a career vet deserves it as well. VA disability rating as a result of injury should be given regardless. Very few actually triple dip. Those who do, "rate" every penny!

Know one triple dips, veterans earned their benefits plain and simple. If your not getting benefits and you've earned them, you should get with the DAV and get what you deserve. If you dont qualify, dont complain about those that do.
