Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

We hear about how all these Vets are triple dipping, but I don't think people are educated on how hard it actually is to do this, and how very small of a percentage of people can qualify to do this.
You have to meet all of these requirements: Serve over 20 years, receive a 50% or more VA Rating, be deemed unemployable or 100% disabled by the VA, AND qualify for SSI benefits.

I have all three. Tbi, managed to get my 20 while recovering from tbi, and as I as I can't pass a drug test to be employed.

I get get retirement check, va disability check and few years a dod retirment check but i put in over 30 years

I seen generals retire get 100% retirement pay, 100 disability, and. Work for a companies that pay 1000 dollars a day for consult fee

The ones complaining are probably the ones who tried to do it but didn't get approved. Its not easy to do and if you meet the quals- by God take it.

"Should Veterans be "triple Dipping"? I think you mean "should Veterans be enrolled in all programs for which they meet the eligibility standards?" The nature in which this question is asked lends to a misuse of available compensation programs. If we look closely within the peramiters of the original question if one of those Veterans also utilizes their GI Bill are they now quad dipping?
The reality is while many people in this world "game" they system (welfare, SNAP, EBT, whatever the going trend is in gov based funding for no work); the MAJORITY of Veterans REFUSE benefits or DELAY receipt of benefits until they have no other options available.
Perhaps we should be educating the men and women who served along side us so we don't have people self medicating with alcohol and drugs to "get through the day" so they can live in a safe home/eat a healthy meal. In a community thick with stigma it is probably not in our best interest to suggest that someone who retired from the military, is disabled as a result of that service and is disabled to the point of being UNABLE to work = "making more than you did serving"... because I'm willing to bet if they were in good physical/mental health they would be making more than they did serving.

The process to get the third entitlement SSDI is not that easy, they send you to their doctor and is based on his/her examination and a review by their employment specialist.

This career tract is brutal. If you meet the 50% requirement and pull off a 20+ career... by all means you deserve it. If you reach that 100% unemployable rating by the VA after your 20+ year career, you're probably going to need SSI to live off of too. Don't drink the haterade. I'll be happy to collect my 21 year retirement whatever disability they say I have and the paycheck from the next job. Are you going to start a poll about that too?

Im not sure if you misunderstood the intention of my post or I misunderstand your reply. I am FOR Veterans getting everything they are entitled. I am in a situation where a relative went off on me for possibly being able to triple dip as if this is a common, easy to do, things for Veterans. I am awaiting my 199 but I did have 20 items the VA came back with, and the Army confirmed 4 as Service DQ. I am aware at how hard it is to do this, but the media (thanks CNN) has painted a picture of this being an epidemic, so much so that there is legislation being proposed to alter this.

Wasn't directed to you SSG (Join to see), but the ones who disagree. I've known too many SR NCOs that are either wheelchair bound, move with a walker or die within a year or two of retirement.
