Some states and counties charge extra for these plates for personal vehicles.  I live in Ohio Columbiana county. I have veteran plates for my truck and don't have to pay any extra for these plates just had to show my license, insurance and a copy of my DD214. I know that in some states the plates I have listed above you are charged extra for them. I like the fact that I don't have to pay for these plates. I feel that as long as you did your time got out under a DD214 that says honorable, retired, or medical discharge you should be able to get the plates listed above at no extra charge so you can place them on your personal vehicle with pride like I do. I look forward to hearing feed back from Vets and also Active duty it is your right to show what you did for our country. Thank You Frank J. Leonardo

Thank God I live in Arkansas, a state that values us. Not only do plates cost us $3 / year, the DMV prints "Veteran" on our DLs.

I would gladly pay the extra for the plates as the proceds go to Veteran charities and organizations.

I have one and it did IRK me to have to pay extra. Seems a little thanks for nothing. Politicians take money from you easier then giving it back.

I don't think Veterans should have to but Tennessee makes us pay extra for plates identifying us as Veterans. I don't know if the state keeps the money or they donate it to any Veteran organizations. I have a Marine Veteran sticker on my back windshield that identifies me as a Veteran so I just leave it at that.
