Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

I have been going through a comp 2 class and have centered my paper's around this change in the military. It is a sad to see something so great be affected by the infection we call sensitivity of feelings. When did we start caring about the feelings of our members so much that it effects the training we give? It is sad times when we have to sugar coat everything we tell them. It also seems to be less effective in keeping straight and strict discipline in our ranks. So no I don't think it's right to ask someone not to wear something they earned because there's somebody who didn't earn it and they feel "sad" it is a ridiculous notion that needs to be squashed. We need to get back to the lines of "grow up butter cup welcome to the military" ....but just some humble opinion from someone who cares to much about the military.

Honestly. Pretty close. Nothing like reducing the efforts of so many to elevate the inexperienced
Just not sure why the leadership would think that's a good idea. The experience is something the new soldiers could up to

I could not pick more then one. But we should be proud of our service, and younger Soldiers need to know who they can go to when combat questions arise.

Like you said. A lot of Soldiers have just gotten into the Army. There day will come. Shouldn't have been an issue with the Command!

No, you earned it wear it, this is the US Military not some feel good community organizing waste of space. Excel at the position you have if you don't like it cross train if your still dissatisfied get out, it is not everyone else responsibility to make you feel good, it is your responsibility to follow orders and perform to the best of your ability.

Hopefully this is just a BS story. The Marines don't were combat patches, but we do have the ribbon we wear on service and dress uniforms. I am sad to say I served many years and deployed several times and never received a combat action ribbon. It sucked seeing all these Marines jr to me with stars on their ribbons. They should be able to wear it with pride.
