Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

It is a matter of pride, unity, showing experienced from inexperienced. there are more things that can bring a unit together. this is just someone who probably hasnt deployed & doesnt have a patch so he wants others to look like him

Saying to remove combat patches to make the newbies feel better is like telling someone who bought a new car to drive a junker, or someone give their kids to an orphanage because some couples are sterile. This unit's cadre needs to file a Hurt Feeling report. There are few things given to soldiers to honor their commitment to a thankless job and now some commander is trying to strip a little bit more from their soldiers?
I did one crap tour in Iraq, I see my patch as a reminder that hey, maybe I actually contributed something during my service.
I see this kind of response as a symptom of having a democrat in the White House for the last eight years.

This is a joke correct? These soldiers EARNED that patch, just like the veterans earned their benefits. Quit taking things from our soldiers, no matter how big or small, to appease people. They will earn one eventually! GET A GRIP!

So if I've never deployed, what's next, I don't have a pathfinder, CAB, AIR ASSAULT, etc. You going to make them take that off too? You earned it, you should be allowed to show it. Oh you earned your chevrons? Take em off, cuz I don't have them.

Wow. Just wow. I can remember the first time I saw someone with a combat patch in Basic. All I could think was that dude must be a serious bad ass and I will never have one of those. A year later I did. If this really is a true story all of us better start learning Russian and Chinese. HFS.
