Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

No. Let's just train them so they live long enough to wear there's with pride some day. And smoke their cryin' a$$e$ when they complain too much about patches or much of anything else. Happened to me my entire 1st enlistment. Even AFTER I had a combat patch....if I bitched... smoke was soon to be billowing out of my fatigues (remember when we called them THAT?). If ya want sensitivity& hugs, join the Salvation Army or volunteer at an animal shelter. Thanks to all who serve past, present& future. Strike and Kill! AIR ASSAULT!!!!!!!

Should we give everyone Participation Ribbons too? This is absurd!! You're making this up, right? I didn't see combat and thoroughly respect those who have. I wholeheartedly support them wearing those patches with pride!

those that served overseas deserve them and should be respected. its been done for ever, why change?

I find it disheartening that 2% actually said "Yes". Don't hate on those that got sent over and act like a little bitch because you don't have not had the chance to earn a combat patch. They should be embracing those that made it back.

My nephew is a member of the unit in question. It is true and it is rediculous. Although I really love this quote he sent me in a text when I asked about it plus, I don't even wear my deployment patch or badges, that shit doesn't make you a better soldier, just how I was raised".
Love that, at the same time he and everyone else should have the right to wear them since they were earned.
What's next, should they just not give out combat patches at all so no one will feel left out anywhere?

First of all, AR 600-8-22 authorizes combat and skill badges. AR 670-1 authorizes SSI/FWTS. These two regulations makes the directive in question totally unlawful.
Secondly, "Combat Patches" are a symbol of service, sacrifice, and dedication to the overall Army and national mission. When I was little, I would stand in front of my dad's closet where his greens were hanging and just stare in awe at his Big Red One combat patch.
What, you feel left out? Oh well. Not my problem. Earn it, then wear it. When something is earned, you understand its importance.
