"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Got 2 funny Comcast patch stories, if you can't believe it... Been out of the Marines for a few years and joined a guard unit. Quite a few combat patches around from soldiers getting off active duty. Not knowing what they were I asked. Pissed me off that I didn't get to wear something, even though I was a combat vet like them. So one day, I was rummaging through some shit that had been packed for years and I found some old pocket iron on's from back in the day. So I took all of my Cammies and put the EGA on my shoulder. No one ever noticed until I went to BNCOC, and the school commendant spotted it. Said he wished he'd thought of it and pointed to his sleeve. Noticed the threads like something was sewen there but no patch. He had his 1st Mardiv patch sewen to the inside of his sleeve!

Fast forward a bunch of years, and I'm now regular army (kids, don't follow my career path). My units deployed without me because I'm broken, and my job in the rear d is to process new shit heads in, and process old shithead's out. I forget why, but some SGT was chewing some major ass in my hallway on this SPC I was processing out. The kid was alright, but probably needed to go home, and this young fucker, no patch, was on his ass about some stupid shit, I can't even remember... Needless to say, I sent that young Apple polisher to the motor pool to do some stupid shit, and Specialist shithead and I had coffee in my office. Why, because fuck you, that's why.

These snowflakes need to grow up or get the HELL. The combat patch is a symbol of honor, of duty, of respect. As a young private who joined a fresh out-of-Vietnam 101st Airborne Division in the 1970’s, I admired those who proudly wore combat patches. These men motivated me to strive to reach their level of proficiency and competence. Combat experience is a matter of timing, nothing more. That patch is not one of those “everybody gets a trophy”award. Neither is the CIB, CFMB, or CAB. The Army awards too many ribbons and “I enlisted” medals already. I cannot believe that a sniveler, who probably suffered a bit of good-natured ribbing because of his inexperience and the timing of his assignment would cry like a baby. Such is Life, snowflake. If one would spend more time studying, learning and applying their skills of the craft, they would probably be a better soldier. These crybaby has to hold a combat support or combat service support MOS. Such a complaint of a trivial matter irritates me. The snowflake wears a uniform with a “U.S. ARMY” name tape above his left pocket and an American Flag on his sleeve. Those factors are enough. Sorry the Army cannot bolster this soldier’s insecurities and feelings of inadequacy because he was not at a certain location. For goodness sakes, grow up!

What will be next the STRIPES on our dress blues! These Soldiers need to suck it up, their time will come, they already wear a damn patch in BASIC and AIT (why? Because they cried about not looking like everyone else) I earned my Deployment Patches and I’ll be damned if I disrespect those that didn’t make it home by giving it up!!

Give me a fucking break, combat patches symbolizes a soldiers full dedication and service of deploing to a combat foriegn country under their unit division, these are honored and earned badges of the sacrifices and courage soldiers have made during their commitment going into forign combat zones, this "everybody gets a trophy" mentality this political correctness bullshit is what is destroying our military!!! Serve 12 to 18 hard months in a combat zone if you want a combat patch!!!! Service members shouldn't have to remove their combat patches just to adhere to the feelings of these new recruits!!!! GTFOH!!!!!
