"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Who really cares about a patch? It doesn’t mean anything other than you just happened to be in a unit that deployed, it’s more about timing. Unless you actively went out of your way to into or out of a deploying unit your being there is meaningless. The patch has the same relevance to the courageous gung-ho first through the door guy as it does for the guy who stayed and hid out in the safety of the rear units

That's the problem with the country in general, so many people are perpetually offended, have paper thin skins, or just the general entitlement attitude, that we as a society have started catering to the whiners. Used to be that you had to try to get ahead, now you just have to complain enough. Funny thing is, I bet that most of those E1s and E2s aren't even complaining, almost always the vocal minority.

I would think the opposite, that them seeing Soldiers with combat patches would inspire them! I earned mine in the Infantry during OFI and the War on Terror! They need to get their own!!!!!
