"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Wearing combat patches is both earned and authorized. Should a ranger tab be removed because someone doesn't have one? Airborne wings? Blue cord?

I don't believe the AR that authorizes the combat patch should be ignored or abrogated. It goes without saying that new Soldiers who have never deployed cannot possibly expect to be able to wear anything on their right shoulder until they earn it, just as the rest of us have. Hurt feelings? Those that even repeat their concerns about being left out need to go back through leadership 101. Serving overseas in a combat zone deserves recognition and respect.

I'm a retired Marine, and Marines don't have Combat Patches. We who were in combat are awarded the Combat Action Ribbon. However, the Army gets awards for just about everything imaginable, so just make a new one so your "Soldiers" have no hurt feelings. There is no such problem in the Corps.

I'm with the rest of the Combat Veterans and Active Duty on this. If the sensitive Lil fuck's want a patch they need to get the fuck out there and earn them like the rest of us.

Are you friggin' kidding?!? Surely that questions has come from a millennial socialist still smarting from his embarrassing dodge ball performance where he missed out on receiving his "participation" trophy. Next these self-esteem progressives will suggest that you shouldn't wear your Airborne wings, Ranger tab, or CIB because their inadequacies would be further heightened. Hey, let's just let everyone join the military as a 4-star general, we can eliminate PT or any stressful activities, and we can add aroma therapy. It might also be helpful for these pansies if every night we all hold hands and sing gentle lullabies. Surely then the Chinese and The Russians would either immediately back down or join us in the new and enlightened touchy-feely world advocated by this naive idiot.

So...

Should we have Purple Heart recipients remove the medal because other are jealous if the respect and special treatment many get???

Since when has the military ever been concerned about hurting soldiers feelings? The newbies can earn their patches, medals and other qualification badges just like we did. None of this "we might offend them" crap.

What's next get rid of all badges and ribbons because not everyone can shoot expert or has the same awards?
