"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

BULLSHIT! You earned the Right to wear that patch. I was I. Grafenwohr Germany and was having a BS session with my Commander and First Sergeant. I have a little bit of a southern twang in my voice and Top asked me where I was from. I told him Warner Robins GA. From out of the blue he says that there was a big Air force base there. I said yes its Robins AFB and that my Dad retired from there. Then he surprises me he says he used to around that area quotes a bit in 63-65. Top wore a 1st Cav Combat Patch.
I tell him that I was in the 3rd Grade and every morning we would get a Morning Recess around 10 AM. An a couple of days a week we would see literally 100 helicopters fly in formation. From our left to Right. They flew close enough for us to see the soldiers hang their feet outside the open cargo doors.
The First Sergeant is getting kind of weird. He is paying a lot of attention to my little story from elementary School.
He tells me that we have something in common he could see us kids in the school yard as we watched the helicopters fly by. He was assigned to 1/7 Cav. He would fight at the Ia Drang.

To be real if there is to be a removal of combat patches from uniforms, you'd have to remove the ribbons from class A dress uniforms. They signify that one has been in a combat zone, which is just about the same. I had a major who would always test me about the ribbons I earned. He was a missileer (SAC weenie). He was the squadron executive officer, with 12 years in service. So I say, let the combat patches and ribbons stay on the uniforms. If someone feels jealous, tough noogies. You'll earn yours one day.

Are you F'ing shitting me!? Who gives a damn if the E-1s and E-2s "feel left out"! This is the f'ing Army not romper room! I can't even believe this would be a thought crossing any commanders mind. In fact, I think that commander should be relieved for such an action. No more progressive liberal BS in the military. They are turning our military into Barney and Friends rather than a bastion of global force projection and superior fire power! Tell Colonel Care Bear to start acting like he is in the Army and tell the E-1s and E-2s to get over it or get gone. So disgusted in regards to what is being done to our military.

Here is a novel thought. If they want a combat patch so bad...GO TO COMBAT!

Do they feel left out on the Purple Hearts as well?! Take them out back, shoot them all and give the survivors their Purple Hearts and combat patches!!!

It was earned, and these individuals have relevant experiences that the younger soldier and look to as some like them that can achieve. As a Marine, we don't have such patches on our Cammies (BDU's) just our dress uniforms, so this isn't a problem for my former branch.

HELL NO! Some of us served, but we're never called on to deploy. My age was perfect - too young for Korea, too old for Nam - and thank a gracious GOD. But wear the.patch. They are patches of valor and respect. Hoooaaaaahhhh!!!

Lol hell no.. that's exactly why our nation is sinking. Everyone just wants everything to be handed to them just because. How the he'll does that even makes it right, do that then there's no honor or pride about the ones who actually endure the hardships and earn it.. Kids these days cry for every living things under the Sun when asked to do the simplest of tasks but wants to wear the patch.

There are Regulations Regarding badges, tabs, and the Combat Patch... if you have been awarded it, No one can make you remove it, except for certain schools/events. If someone try's to order you to remove it for any other reason it is an unlawful order... we had a soldier go to a school, I believe it was a MOS reclass, and the instructors tried to make the Soldier remove it. It started a HUGE ordeal, and after all the arguing, and bickering was done, our readiness/training NCO sent a copy of the reg, along with a copy of the orders awarding the patch to the school, and told them if they continued to try to make him remove it it would result in a IG, and Harassment complaint, the Soldier was allowed to wear it, and the NCO's/Officers who told him to remove it were Reprimanded
