Should you leave a tip in government lodging while on orders?

Curious as to people's opinion. I'm on orders right now, and while I never have tipped at government quarters before, it occurred to me that the housekeeping staff here is probably as poorly paid as civilian motels.

No; the military is providing the room and paying the housekeeping staff

Yes, but only if on per diem (i.e. not as a reservist on a drill weekend for reserve center direct billed rooms)

I don't leave a tip in a normal motel, why would I tip in military lodging?

Don't know; never thought about it

If you were on business travel working for IBM, GE, Apple, would you tip the hotel staff? I think you have your answer.

CDR (Join to see), that's actually a good question Sir. I never left a tip when I was on orders and staying in government quarters, be it per diem barracks when I was single or the Navy Lodge or Army Inn after I got married. I would have to say yes, tip the staff.

Yes. It is civilians that keep the rooms nice.
