Okay folks, there are a lot of great MILSURP bolt action rifles out there. But the reality is there is only so much ammo available. Which bolt action rifle would be your go to? The below list is narrow, The Fastest Bolt Action (SMLE), The Rifle anyone can fix with a screwdriver (Mosin Nagant), The All American 1903, and the Rifle that is still copied till today the Gewehr 98 Mauser. Myself, I would be having a hard time between the Enfield and the Mosin, not there is anything wrong with the others. I have owned several of those and know them well.

I like the smooth action, sights, and ten round capacity of the SMLE but the the 30:06 ammo of the M1903 would be easier to find here in the US.

Both are great choices. I have owned both. If were getting over run and had unlimited ammo, the .303 would get the nod. You just can't feed the other three anywhere near as fast as you can an Enfield.

8mm (I used to use a 165 gr Norma round, but they were discontinued some time back. They stepped out at 2,854 ft/s (muzzle) flat as a pancake. The scope is a Tasco Euro Class 3 X 12. I had a friend who gold-plated the trigger for me. the result (see photo). I started with just the barrel and action. It's a 1933 Oberndorf 8x57 Mauser.
