Apparently the government is still shut down I’m curious as to whether or not the bases are shut down too. I’m on leave but needed to go to the base to do a few things. Just wanted to know if anybody knew since nobody seems to be answering phones on base. That may be a sign, but still wanted to ask.

The bases are never shut down during a shutdown. Military personnel still have work and still get paid. As the shutdown goes on more civilians will get furloughed but not all of them and not all the time.

It's the day after Christmas.
Most of the people at whatever base you are talking about are on leave Christmas through New Year's Day.
Those that are working this week may be coming in late and/or leaving early.

I’m on leave sir. So I won’t be showing up for formation regardless. And I wasn’t implying in any way shape or form that i wondered if the military was still working or not. I’m very aware that we would still have to show up for work regardless of the government’s status. My question was pertaining to certain elements of civilian-ran capacities on the bases and whether or not they were open. But I already got the answer I was looking for.

I understand and have deleted my sarcastic remark. Regrettably this is my holiday spirit.
