SM is being recommended for an ARCOM which he currently has 5 x ARCOMS. Do you place w/ 5OLC or 1SLC? This came up today as a question.

According to what I remember once he has maxed the one that he is wearing he can by reg. Add a second ribbon or medal depending on which he is wearing. This is the way that they work around this type situation. It’s not very common but is the way to properly display the total awards that you have been awarded. It is without a doubt a interesting question. I also am curious as to how a soldier that at Best may have ten years under his belt, how and what has this soldier come to receive so many ARCOMS? I spent eight years and was Medically Discharged Honorably and I only had one AAM, and one ARCOM. it seems that Medals are being issued for almost anything. Not to downplay nor smear this soldier service, but it is very interesting that he has 5 ARCOMS and is being awarded a sixth!

The attachments are only used to indicate the number of awards he has and under what circumstance he was in when he earned the medal.

Silver oak leaf cluster. The same thing happened to me. Ribbon is one, 4 oak leaf clusters make five, another award would be one silver olc.

Okay here is a question for everyone. I couldn’t get a strait answer from anyone while I was in. I had 10 ARCOMs, one of them being with a V device. How should it be worn for a DA photo?

To answer your question the sm will wear an 1 silver leaf cluster. There is no such thing as a 5 oak leaf clusters.

My question is "why is an E-7 asking how the regulations are supposed to be worn on the ASU uniform?." This should have been basic knowledge growing through the ranks. At least give a challenging question like how is 10 awards supposed to be worn on a ribbon. (BTW it's 1 silver oak leader cluster, 3 bronze oak leaf clusters and another ribbon placed on the rack.)
