So I'm transitioning from National Guard to Active Duty. I want to commission to 18A(SF). Can I commission to that from any MOS I pick?

You can commission as any MOS and then apply for the 18A track once you are 1LT (P). Being in a combat arms MOS will help your chances of successfully applying and completing the pipeline though.

No and Yes
No you can't just chose to be an 18 series anything, it is a long and painful process. Is your enlisted MOS 18 series? If so, that makes it much easier, you are already in the pipeline. If no, that makes it a little harder. It can be done, you need to have all of your MOS schools behind you, the AOC behind you, and they may require some leadership positions i.e company command.
Zach it is not an easy process, however, it is worth it. They expect lots out of the O's applying to the program but when they are done they will not think twice about putting the world on an SF O's shoulders.
It is a hard job, harder at times than you could ever imagine, but in my opinion its the most rewarding. It never leaves you, damn I got chills.

No unfortunately it's not 18 series. I kinda shot myself in the foot with that one. So I would have to choose 18X first it seems. How long after I report to my unit?

SGT (Join to see) - A question. The original post seems to indicate that you are enlisting to attend OCS, is that the correct assumption? If so, as has been indicated in a couple of post, your only option would be to branch qualify as something else, then apply after you get the rank and other requirements. LTC Shearer could answer this, but they used to send 18 series Officer Candidates to the Infantry and they didn't go back until they hit 1LT and had completed a duty assignment. I haven't heard anything that tells me that it's different today.
