So, I was wondering, on the Army "Green" Service uniform Officers have that black stripe, and what does it mean? like does follow rank?

The old Black Stripe on the pants denoted those that were Officers and Warrant Officers.

I mean as in the sleeve of the uniform, and does it follow rank, as in 2nd lt has 1, and 1st LT has 2.

David Bivins - Ah. I thought you meant the pants. The black stripe on the sleeve served the same purpose as the stripe on the pants. And it was one stripe for all officers

Ok, grammatical errors aside: it was used to denote Officer rank, warrant and commissioned. Similar to the yellow stripe used today to denote leader (CPL & above) rank today.

Like I said above, I mean as in the sleeve the uniform and does it follow rank, as in 2nd LT has 1, and 1st has 2.

David Bivins - the only time it changes is for general officers. They have a different one. Other wise WO1-COL all the same.
