Reservist? Interested in becoming a Drill Sergeant? The Army is obviously in need of more Drill Sergeants right now, as the current issue of Army Times clearly points to. So my question is, is there a base of NCOs out there who considered the idea but not pursued it? Maybe you're looking for a new home in the Army Reserves?
I'm about to wrap up my first AT as Company Commander with B Co 1-320/3/98th here at Fort Jackson and I have to say, it's a lot of fun watching these guys work and seeing the Drill Sergeant from the "not so scary side."

If Abingdon, VA isn't convenient to your HOR, consider Charlottesville, Alexandria, Roanoke or Lynchburg. There are USAR Drill Sergeant units there, as well, all of which have vacancies. Personally, I'm partial to Charlottesville.

My first reserve unit was a Drill Sergeant unit. That's the only reason I came back. Sadly, it didn't work out. But I am so dedicated to the task of training tomorrow's warriors that I have begun comms with a unit in the next state. They have a consistent track record of sending candidates, and I am just waiting until I am eligible for a transfer. It's like waiting for christmas, but it has been my only goal since joining the Army. So it is worth it.
Atta boy! That's my Company Commander out there pounding the pavement. Love it ;)
