“Service in the 160th is a calling only a few will answer for the mission is constantly demanding and hard. And when the impossible has been accomplished the only reward is another mission that no one else will try.”
These lines from the Night Stalker Creed are a reminder of the key role Special Operations Soldiers play in defense of our way of life and the necessary support elements needed to make them one of the fastest and most capable military forces in the world.
The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) is the primary rotary-wing support to DOD Special Operations Forces and actively seeks and assesses the best-qualified aviators, crew members and support personnel in the Army.
Am I ready for the next chapter?
This is a question I asked myself many times back in 2008 while living in Seattle, Washington. Similar to the uncertainty faced by many in our country today, I experienced difficulties securing employment during the economic downturn in 2008.
I quickly came to realize that I needed to carve my own path forward that gave me a sense of purpose and financial stability. I needed a work environment that encouraged me to advance my education, develop new skill sets, and grow professionally and personally. It didn’t take long for me to acknowledge that my path forward was with the Army.
I have been with the 160th as a 15Y (AH64D Armament/Apache) for the majority of my Army career. It has opened my eyes to the world around me, allowed me the ability to travel to places like Thailand and Australia, and grow in ways that were difficult to imagine years ago.
In 2008, I found myself competing with peers for employment in the civilian sector, but not having the degree necessary to secure meaningful employment. Today, the Army has given me the opportunity to advance my education, secure stable income, travel the globe, and work/become friends with the most talented and dedicated people I know.
If you’re up for the challenge and looking for the next phase in your career, then your path to becoming a Night Stalker begins today. I encourage you to explore the opportunities available and connect with and build a personal relationship with a recruiter.
