A PV2 pointing a weapon at a camera to look "hard" while in uniform. Shocking.

A stupid kid with two seconds in the Army and perhaps no real understanding yet of pride in the uniform, making a stupid and reckless mistake. It's as if she's young, stupid and reckless.

Sigh...correct her and move forward.

SSG Woods, I did know how to describer that picture of the female and the pistol but you hit it on the nail; "looking hard".

SSG Ottesen, most people don't need to touch a stove more than once to not do it again lol. Well...most women I should say...
J/k, men are smart too :) besides ya can't just go around kicking people in the face when you wear a size 5 boot. It doesn't do any damage!

SSG Martin
I should have put "trying to look hard" lol.

SSG V. Michelle Woods It's not the size of the boot, it's the technique behind it.

Make sure your rotate at the hip, snap the leg straight right before the moment of contact for a little extra velocity, and make solid contact with the target (when wearing boots, I prefer the jaw) using the ball of the foot. Be ready to reverse the movement and execute a brachial stun with your heel on the return swing.

If the subject in question happens to be taller and you cannot reach their jaw as you stand on the ground, skip the Hollywood jumping spin kicks, and take it to the nethers. Contrary to popular belief, when correctly executed, this technique is effective on both genders.

For further guidance, especially as concerns dimension lumber, Please refer to FM 22-102.

SSG Graves, Please. In it's current form, liberalism is politically correct and soft. I find it amazing that SM would call me out for the love of this country and for things that threaten them.

This is a perception that is largely held by most old school veterans. Could you imagine what old time Drill Instructors would think about these kinds of pictures, especially in uniform.

And if you want to debate what happened in the 60s, why go for it. Because as I see it, upper leadership is selling us out. Sorry but I believe this because I have lived it.

CPL Brown - don't be too sure. Enough higher-ups are beginning to get the message and will act appropriately. Of course, it's like locking the barn door after the cow's gone.

Jeez. With all the talk lately about Soldiers taking inappropriate pics and posting them, when will they learn...? At least this one isn't nearly as bad as some of the ones I have seen lately.

1SG Blount, here's the picture referenced a few posts up. I've been waiting to hear the outrage from people about this one.

There was a discussion thread about this pic a little while back. I was in awe that a DS would do something like that.

Well, her CSM is in something less than awe. I've never spoken to anybody and watched them go into orbit like that. Some SFC is in for a VERY bad day

Good question. The question I like to ask in response to this one is do you believe that these sorts of things happened during the 70's, the 80's, the 90's?

You betcha.

The military has always had its share of folks that were less than ideal. Think things like rape, sexual harassment, and EO issues didn't happen back then because everything in the 80's and 90's was from a magical time where everyone that served was much more honorable than the current crop of kids coming in now? It wasn't. The major difference here is that now live in a world that is becoming increasingly DOMINATED by near-instantaneous access to social media, and the far-reaching effects of posting sensitive, crude, or shameful information to that media.

I liken the phenomena to people that always talk about how things were better "back then" as opposed to now. What people don't understand is that we're actually doing pretty well in comparison to the 80's and early 90's. The issue is that our media now covers so much of the things that go wrong and blast it over every available channel that it appears like there's absolutely nothing good happening.
Thanks CSM. I think the BLUF is that just because you see it more often in the news and on social media doesn't make it an epidemic, it just means that it's being covered more often. Assuming otherwise is a faulty causation.

SFC Schwartz. I know your frustration. I was never a bully with regards to rank but I did respect those older and over me. I was not perfect but there are COMMON SENSE issues that we do not go over the line with. This was over that line.

No it is not that simple. It is not an epidemic however, we must remember the real context here and that it's really a small group that generate the large audience.

Now, what can we do (as leaders, and we are ALL leaders)? Continued training of our policies and doctrine and also our service members being disciplined to do their duty and honor the values of their service branch we can reduce the buffoonery. And those that violate the rules and regulations need to be dealt with accordingly (whether that is retraining or punished if that is what is deserving). We must remember that we ARE held to a higher standard than the rest of society and with that we are expected to not do these things. Many of these acts are completely disrespectful and really get to us all at an emotional level, especially when we are talking about our fallen comrades.

For posing with a gun in uniform? About the only thing I see wrong is that she is tooling around with her finger in the trigger well...which is something I have seen before and didn't cause me to have a heart attack.

While I typically don t like to cuss on this forum, this cliche goes hand in hand with the current issue- Don't run an alligator mouth with that tadpole ass.

Basically-don t be posting pictures of stupid crap on facebook, and then become a coward and refuse to accept responsibility for your actions...
